The Project Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a "Design coordinator Facilities".




Description of position/department

Includes all buildings and systems required for operation of the accelerator, target and instruments, interfaces to be agreed upon.

It also includes site and infrastructure preparation, construction support, all facility buildings, user and general service buildings.




Description of main responsibilities




• Being the project's design coordinator for facilities and thereby ensure that the established technical requirements are fullfilled, and in consultation with the project management manage routine contact with the designated responsible designers.

• In consultation with management, evaluate the developed technical and economic solutions that are recognized at the design phase, so that any discrepancies are reported immediately. 

• Ensuring that adequate plans are drawn up so that planning can be performed within specified times.

• To establish requisite responsibilities and boundaries between the designers, both in terms of buildings and towards the equipment design.

• Establish project customized routines for meetings, coordination, review and verification, drawing, distribution, design layout, etc.

• To transmit and obtain information from other functions within the project.

• Coordinating and monitoring so that consultants and designers in the design of facilities meets the standards of quality and environmental standards for the project.

• To regularly lead meetings regarding design of facilities.

• In the future the position could include management of a team.

Qualifications




• Preferebly a Master of Science or a Bachelor of Science within Construction. 

• A strong documented experience of working in an international environment with similar work, is essential. 

• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.

Duration & Location

The position is permanent.

Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.

The European Spallation Source ESS AB will design, build and operate a multi-disciplinary, large-scale research infrastructure based on the world’s most powerful neutron source. ESS will provide scientists with unique and powerful neutron scattering instruments for the study of a large range of materials – from polymers and pharmaceuticals to membranes and molecules. The ESS project is partnered by 17 European countries, and hosted by Sweden and Denmark. The ESS will be built in Lund, Sweden, by a collaboration of European scientists and engineers. ESS is planned to produce the first neutrons by 2019. When the facility is in full operation 2025, ESS has around 450 employees.
